Fiance and Marriage Visas
Fiancee Visa K-1 allows a foreign fiance to come to the U.S. to marry the U.S. citizen. This is the right type of visa for a couple that is engaged or plans to get engaged soon. Five K-1 Visa Requirements: 1) the petitioner has to be a U.S. citizen; 2) meeting in person within the past two years; 3) freedom to marry; 4) actual relationship; 5) income requirement for the U.S. citizen. Marriage Visa CR-1 and IR-1 allows a foreign spouse of the U.S. citizen to come to the U.S. This is the right type of visa for a married couple or couple that will be married soon. Seven CR-1 Visa Requirements: 1) the petitioner has to be a U.S. citizen; 2) the couple must be lawfully married; 3) any previous marriages must be terminated; 4) each spouse is at least 16 y.o.; 5) genuine relationship; 6) meeting in person; 7) income requirement for the U.S. citizen.
Employment Related Visas
Work Visa H1-B allows a foreigner with a bachelor degree live and work in the U.S. Sometimes the bachelor degree may be substituted with a relevant work experience. H-2A Visa and H-2B Visa allow seasonal employees' labor in the U.S. E-2 Visa allows a foreigner-investor to live and work in the U.S. L-1 Visa permits foreign executives, managers, and employees with specialized knowledge work in the U.S. Work and study J Visa is for foreigners who wish to participate in exchange study programs. TN Visa allows Canadian and Mexican professionals to participate in business conducted in the U.S. E-1 Visa is available to treaty traders. E-2 Visa is designated for treaty investors. E-3 Visa is available to Australian specialty occupation workers. EB-1 Visa and O-1 Visa are available to foreigners with extraordinary abilities.
Green Card or U.S. Permanent Residency
A green card or a permanent resident card allows a foreign national live in the U.S. The holder of the green card can reside in the U.S., work at any job, and have freedom travelling without the need for the U.S. Visa. Green card may be obtained following the fiance and marriage visas as well as some employment related visas.
U.S. Citizenship or Naturalization
U.S. citizenship has numerous benefits. A citizen will not be deported or banned if he commits a crime. A citizen does not to have to remain or reside in the U.S. A citizen has the right to participate in a federal election and may qualify for various federal jobs. Unlike the green card, citizenship cannot be taken away.
